Sun Spots

Sun Spots can be treated with a variety of procedures including:

Vbeam® Perfecta

There are many different types of laser and light treatment products on the market used to treat the visible symptoms of skin conditions, such as acne and Rosacea.

The Vbeam® Perfecta is a device that produces an intense but gentle burst of light that treats the abnormal blood vessels seen in spider veins or other vascular lesions without harming the surrounding tissue.

The Vbeam® Perfecta treats conditions such as facial and nasal veins, sun spots and freckles, diffuse redness and Rosacea, psoriasis, even unsightly scars and warts; and can be used on the face and body.

The Vbeam® Perfecta treatment produces an immediately visible result, and there is no recovery time or anesthesia required before the treatment. Our patients can come in for a treatment and resume normal activities when their treatment is done.

To protect eyes from the intense light, patients will have their eyes covered with an opaque material or wear laser protective glasses. Patient down time is reduced by preventing purpura or bruising.

IPL / PhotoFacial

A PhotoFacial involves a series of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments that improve the appearance of Rosacea, flushing and sun-damaged skin, age spots, skin texture, and photo aging. As many as seventy-million Americans have undesirable redness and/or sun-damaged skin. Sun exposure, alcohol, medication, stress, and aging often worsen the appearance of Rosacea. Rosacea is a common skin condition characterized by redness and flushing skin. PhotoFacial treatments control flushing and, in many cases, reduce the need for topical cortisone creams and antibiotics.

Power PhotoFacial

Power PhotoFacials are for patients who want the benefits of a PhotoFacial in one to two treatments. Your skin will be smoother and look much more uniform in tone. In addition, a power PhotoFacial is particularly effective in removing pre-cancerous growths.

The procedure involves an initial microdermabrasion followed immediately by an application of a topical solution called Levulan to the skin 45 minutes to an hour before the treatment. Levulan® makes the skin more sensitive to the laser’s light, reducing the need for more treatments. The procedure begins after the Levulan® solution is carefully washed off.

Unlike a routine PhotoFacial, there is swelling and your skin will peel. When healed, your skin will be smoother and look much more uniform in tone. In addition, a power PhotoFacial is particularly effective in removing pre-cancerous growths (actinic keratoses).

The innovative addition of Levulan® to the IPL treatment, safely and more aggressively treats sun spots, age spots, and freckles. This approach requires fewer treatments than with Intense Pulse Light alone. Some redness and crusting of the treated areas will be noted.
