Microdermabrasion
What is Microdermabrasion?
An exfoliating and skin rejuvenating procedure, microdermabrasion (a form of dermabrasion) involves spraying tiny crystals gently onto the skin to remove the outer layer, giving a brighter, softer appearance to the complexion. The procedure also encourages of collagen, a natural protein that gives skin its youthful appearance. Among the uses of microdermabrasion are:
improvement of age spots
exfoliating
reduction of fine wrinkles and lines
reduction of enlarged pores
improvement of cne and mild scarring.
Who is a Candidate for This Treatment?
Most skin types can tolerate dermabrasion. Aside from its use in skin rejuvenation, patients seeking treatment of light scarring, discoloration, stretch marks and sun damage can also benefit from the procedure.
What is the Treatment Process?
Tiny crystals are sprayed onto the skin to buff away tired, old cells. There are two types of treatments. In one type, a clinician sprays buffing crystals across your skin using a hand-held device, with an attached vacuum device suctioning up the crystals and dead skin. In a more advanced form, a diamond-tip wand is used. Both techniques take about a half an hour. Less, aggressive than dermabrasion, the procedure is painless and requires no numbing medication.
What Can I Expect After Microdermabrasion Treatment?
There is no down-time and polished-looking new skin is revealed immediately after treatment, though you may be advised to use a special moisturizer afterward. Many patients start with two treatments per month and progress to one per month to maintain benefits.
Vibradermabrasion
What is Vibradermabrasion?
Also offered under the brand name Vibraderm, vibradermabrasion is a skin rejuvenation treatment offered as an alternative to microdermabrasion. Although the procedure also offers a mild to moderate mechanical peel, vibradermabrasion uses paddles covered in very fine abrasive particles, rather than the sprayed crystals of microdermabrasion. The vibrating of the paddles dislodges old skin cells to reveal a more youthful complexion. Uses for the treatment include:
exfoliation
reduction of mild acne scarring
improvement of poor or dull skin texture
reduction of fine lines
Who is a Candidate for This Treatment?
Candidates include patients seeking treatment for age spots, sun damaged skin, mild scarring and other signs of aging on any part of the body. The treatment can also be used to prepare skin for other treatments including Laser, IPL, chemical peel or blue light treatment.
What is the Treatment Process?
During a Vibraderm® treatment, vibrating paddles loosen dead skin. In Vibrafusion® therapy an infusion paddle applies topical skin care formulas to freshly exfoliated skin, allowing for better penetration of youth-enhancing products while skin is most receptive. Treatments take 15 to 30 minutes. Paddles allow for even treatment of a large area with little irritation.
What Can I Expect After Vibradermabrasion Treatment?
Results will be immediately visible after treatment. The treatment is painless, though you might experience slight redness in the treated area for 20 to 60 minutes afterwards. Four to ten treatments are generally required for optimal results.
VI Peel®
What is VI Peel®?
A combination of some of the most powerful medical peel agents currently available, VI Peel®’s ingredients include wrinkle-fighter Retin-A, exfoliant salicylic acid, antioxidant vitamin C and collagen stimulator trichloroacetic acid. The procedure can benefit patients suffering from:
sun damage
hyperpigmentation
acne and acne scars
rosacea
loss of skin firmness
Working well in tandem with other treatments, VI Peel® can be used in conjunction with lasers and injectables.
Who is a Candidate for This Treatment?
All skin types can benefit from the treatment, which is suitable for use on face, chest, hands, arms and back, and it is the only peel approved for treating under the eye.
What is the Treatment Process?
Acetone will be applied to cleanse the skin of all oil and then the first layer of the peel will be applied. You may feel a bit of stinging as the product slightly numbs the skin. Subsequent layers are applied until the skin ‘frosts,’ or turns partially white, at which point the mask will be allowed to self-neutralize for the next six hours.
What Can I Expect After VI Peel Treatment?
Prior to leaving the office, you will receive a post-peel kit and instructions. You can expect skin to darken over several days, with peeling starting on day three and reaching completion in seven days. New skin will be smoother, clearer and more evenly toned.

What is Blue Peel Radiance®?
Obagi Blue Peel Radiance® is a salicylic acid-based chemical peel providing superficial exfoliation without the extensive downtime often found with more traditional types of chemical peel. Like other chemical peels Blue Radiance® can reduce fine lines, encourage production of collagen, unclog pores and improve the rate of cell turnover. The peel has been found to help with a range of complexion problems, including:
brown spots

Many patients find that a series of treatments is needed to achieve their desired goals.
What Can I Expect After Blue Peel RADIANCE Treatment?
Once peeling is complete, a dramatic improvement in skin texture and tone is evident. Although improvement in tightness, smoothness and brightness is noticeable after just one treatment, most patients find that four to six Blue Radiance® peels provide best results.
